HOPE IN THE RISEN CHRIST
HOPE IN THE RISEN CHRIST
Hello friends!
Christ’s resurrection gives us hope for eternal life and that His power can work in us here on earth as well. Thank you for praying for our project for veterans and for the strength from God to organize everything. So, we have already held our first retreat in March.
We were seven participants from different parts of Ukraine, but this time each of us was already a believer. I’d like to share a bit more about two of the guys:
This is Valera and Andrii. Valera (on the left) was in Russian captivity for three years. There he lost weight down to 63 kilograms and developed an active form of tuberculosis. He was exchanged as a seriously ill prisoner a little less than a year ago. He has recovered from tuberculosis and now weighs 89 kg. He comes from a believing family, but before the war he lived without Christ. In captivity, he let Christ into his heart and is now growing spiritually.
Andrii, while providing first aid to his comrade who had been blown up by a mine, stepped on another mine with his knee and therefore has a high-level amputation. Before the war, he attended one of the churches and served there with children. Just a week ago, on Sunday, he visited a Baptist church in his hometown of Zaporizhzhia, near which the Russians dropped an aerial bomb shortly afterward. There were killed and wounded, but Andrii is unharmed.
We all spent time together walking around and exploring Budapest.
And most importantly, we spent a lot of time talking about various topics important for veterans—social and church adaptation, the challenges each person faces, and how they deal with them, and so on.
As a result, we decided to have an online support group. In this way, we regularly have calls to support one another and inspire each other to serve other veterans.
And already this week, on Friday, a new group of veterans is arriving for the next retreat. This time it will be a mixed group—Christians and non-Christians.
Please pray for this retreat—that God would guide it and use us. Because at the last moment many things change: some of the guys are unable to come, so we are looking for others. So pray that God would bring exactly the veterans He wants to be there. Pray for strength and wisdom for us.

Thank you for your report and your work. Praying for you and your family
ReplyDeleteThank you dear friend for your prayers and support!
DeleteThis was an excellent report. Thank you for ministering to those who have sacrificed much in the pursuit of freedom for Ukraine. I couldn't miss the fact that although the baptist church was bombed, the cross remained visible! Jesus told us that the gates of hell will not prevail against His church!
