A FEW TESTIMONIALS

Dear partners and friends, Lena and I deeply appreciate each one of you for choosing, month after month, to stand with us and our ministry. In reality, we are serving together, because God designed the Body of Christ in such a way that we depend on one another. Without your prayers and support, our ministry would not be possible.

In this letter, I would like to share a few testimonials from some of the men we are serving together with you, in hopes that it will help you see the impact you are making in their lives.

Yura – a veteran who, because of injuries and the impact of the war, now needs replacement of both hip joints.

“I am very grateful to you for organizing this retreat and inviting me. After returning from the war, I mostly stayed at home in my village, isolated myself, and drank heavily. You helped me step out of the environment I had fallen into. I want to stop drinking.”

Danyil – a veteran who, because of injuries sustained in the war, lost both legs, one hand, and four fingers on the other hand.

“I had the chance to attend other retreats, but this is the first retreat for veterans that is also organized by veterans. It feels different. Here, I can truly relax and not worry about being misunderstood. After the war, I also began interacting with Protestant Christians, so the fact that you are believers did not make me uncomfortable at all.”

By the way, on Sunday we had planned some free time in Budapest for the veterans. However, when we told them that our family normally goes to church on Sundays, they chose to come to church with us. For Yura, this was actually his very first experience attending a Protestant church.

Misha – a veteran who served as a military medic.

“I organize various veteran gatherings in Ukraine, but they are usually large, and because of that, you rarely get meaningful one-on-one interaction. What makes this project special is that it is intentionally small. You can’t really hide from each other, and that is exactly what helps build deep and lasting relationships. I would love to join the next retreat and bring along a fellow veteran.”

Next week, we will have our third retreat, taking place from June 12–14. Please pray for its organization and planning, and that God would give us wisdom in how to serve these men and open their hearts.

Please also pray for funding for the retreats planned for the next season (Fall 2026 – Spring 2027), and as we continue developing a fuller vision for this ministry strategy based on what God has been teaching us through the experience we have gained so far.

Also, we have recently joined a group of people who are working toward planting a Ukrainian-speaking church in Budapest. At this stage, we are prayerfully shaping the vision and foundation for this future church, so we especially covet your prayers.
